The Legends of the Rocking Dutchman - episode 124

Aladdin 3000 series, 1948

In 1948 Aladdin started with a new 3000 series, that replaced their old numbering from 101-212 that had started in their Philo days back in 1945. 1948 was the year of the recoring strike of the American Federation of Musicians, and it looks like Aladdin hadn't prepared like most other labels that had organized themselves a recording frenzy late in 1947 that yielded so many masters that they could release at full speed. Instead, in '48 Aladdin had significantly less output than the years before and after.

Despite, the label proved once again their supremacy in the Rhythm & Blues field with top notch artists and number one hits.
